Buying trips are the true perk of our job . . . buying in PARIS brings “perk” to a whole new level. As anyone who has been there knows, there is something extra magical about the City of Light . . . A certain je ne sais quoi.
Here is a look behind the scenes of our FW13 buying trip last week —>
Our apartment was in Le Marais – one of our favorite neighborhoods in Paris. We had yet to try the famous L’As Du Falafel (just down the block from our apartment). The crowd you see in front is the line-up. All the way down the block. How good can a falafel be, we wondered? We decided to try it one night on our way home (still a crowd but much more manageable) and although it IS the best falafel we’ve ever had, it’s still just falafel. Sorry.
Showroom appointments – Day 1. Anna (left) & meet Marissa (right), our guest/temp buyer for the week.
First real Crêpe experience – and we picked the best place for it, Breizh Café! We highly recommend this exact lunch along with a glass (or bottle) of champagne. So delicious.
Back to work! Our afternoon at the Agence M&K showroom was a delight. Calla was a trip highlight – you can see why.
We found the perfect shoe collection . . . details to come. Notice the amazing 10 Crosby pants on Julie from Agence M&K! One of us!
We left this restaurant thrilled with how great the food and atmosphere was. A very Parisian experience . . . a few hours later we both got very (very) ill from that “beef” tartare. Beware! We lost a day due to this unfortunate mishap . . .
The show must go on . . . Behind these walls are the bustling Comme des Garcon showrooms. Stay tuned for some pretty new wallets at Coup in the near future.
The Polly King & Co. set up at the Bastille Design Centre. Always so much fun. They have some of our favorite brands such as Zoe Jordan, Mother of Pearl, and last but definitely not least (most, actually) . . .
Last night in Paris. We didn’t quite have our appetites back yet but really wanted to try Pierre Sang after our friends at Haven recommended it (thank you). So glad we went! They serve a 6 course tasting menu + wine pairing (very reasonably priced too). The food was delicious but the best part is the atmosphere & energy. We also loved that they don’t tell you exactly what you’re eating until after each coarse, same with the wine. Such a treat!
Just down Oberkampf from Pierre Sang is one of our favorite local spots, Aux Deux Amis. It’s our third visit here and we think our limited French is finally growing on them. Their menu is scribbled on a mirror – we never know what it says but have had great luck asking for an assortment! So SO tasty! We recommend you pay them a visit, even just for a glass of wine / to be treated poorly (in the best way) for not speaking French!
That’s all for now . . . we have one more buying trip left. It’s a new and exciting addition and we can’t wait to share it with you! Stay tuned.
